Dodie – how about telling us what else is on your list? Do you find good coffee there?

Great article. Would have like to have seen a photo of the completed project, inside and out. How do they keep the bamboo walls from leaking when it rains?

Thank you Dodie. I always enjoy your articles. I grew up in small town Alberta in the 50s and 60s and honestly do not recall my area being like that, although the sheltered life that I lived then likely is the reason why.

Lin Schreiber: We are thinking along the same lines that you were. We plan to part with most of our furniture but thinking of taking mattresses, kitchen items, linens, electrical appliances, etc. Any more tips on what you are happy that you took, what you wish you would have kept and what else (other than what you mentioned) you are finding it…[Read more]

Terry Roberts interesting. We also live in the Seattle area and are hoping to relocate to Ecuador, likely Cuenca, in the next year or so. We quite enjoyed our visit to Ecuador two years ago.

Enjoyed your article, Donna. We are also looking forward to moving there, hopefully soon, to get away from the exorbitant prices of everything in the U.S. My husband had to take an early retirement due to the high stress making him physically ill, and also has no social security retirement benefits at this time.

We ate in Montanita every night for a week – lots of different restaurants to choose from – when we stayed in the next town over – a 1 minute drive away – in Manglaralto. We had rented a suite from an American couple there and thoroughly enjoyed our week’s vacation. There’s lots of sun, surf and sand in both places but in Manglaralto we were…[Read more]
